Language is unintelligible without punctuation. Conversation is meaningless without pauses. A great orator operates through pregnant pauses. It is silence that often conveys the greatest message of truth – not hysterics or bullying. This is mere manipulation.
Pauses are important in life too.
The passage of time, of life, of our personal story is measured in days, weeks, months and years. This is the history of humanity. These are the pauses, the milestones, the measures that make it make sense.
Every morning is an opportunity to begin again: to be reborn. Every day is an awakening, not just an awakening from sleep but an awakening to human consciousness, to being alive on planet Earth, to the wonder of this most amazing journey.
Every day is a discrete and unique step on your journey of life.
The absolute tragedy of life is that the human condition all too easily ‘forgets’ or overlooks the journey of life. We get too caught up in the drama to enjoy the process for life is nothing less than the evolutionary unfolding of creation back to source.
It is truly exciting, joyous, mysterious and magical. It is a wonder and wonderful. It is a pure delight! It is a story without parallel, but we are all too fixated on the artificial fantasies of the celebrity story whether that be the Hollywood version, or that of elite ruling class or even the social media influencer. Never our own glorious and triumphant journey.
We would rather ‘spend’ our precious time watching trashy fiction that portrays and celebrates the basest of human activity of violence and murder than ‘invest’ our time watching the glory of a sunrise or a sunset or the radiant face of a loved one or just the mere passage of our lives.
We are passengers on the most glorious cruise ship – planet Earth - sailing through the cosmic ocean of the universe. We are witnesses to the majestic unfolding of evolution as never before because we now know and understand the true workings of that universe.
Your own personal story is the most compelling, exciting, interesting tale there is. It holds all the drama, all the suspense, all the answers that anyone could ask for. Life is so much more than we give it credit for.
At this time of year’s end, take some ‘punctuation time’ to pause, to reflect, to digest, to invest attention in your blessings, your gifts, your loved ones, the true grandeur of your life. Take some time ‘out’ to be ‘in’: in love with you.
Give thanks. Be grateful.
Gratitude is the fuel for more, for gratitude is the ultimate state of receiving and the universe loves to give. We just need to be open to receive.
Give yourself the ultimate Christmas gift – the joy of your own life with those you hold dear to your heart. Give them the gift of you as you receive the gift of them.
